This Week in the Rhema "Christian Yoga" Weekly...So often, people take cues about how to treat you based on how you treat yourself. They take cues about how to think of you based on how you think about yourself.
What do you think about yourself? How well do you love yourself? Are you confident in your abilities, talents and thoughts? Do you really believe that you are a masterpiece, created by the God of the universe who loves you? All of this may sound crazy if you’ve never heard it before, but often the way people perceive you is the way you perceive yourself. If you believe you’re unattractive, people will probably see you that way. If you believe no one likes you, people will not be as drawn to you. Here at Rhema, we use Christian Yoga to provide identity and significance to our practitioners. What does it mean to be a real son or daughter of the King of Heaven? How does that empower you to love yourself well, love others well, and change the world for God?

This Week in the Rhema "Christian Yoga" Weekly...So often I get wrapped up on work, errands and yoga poses that I forget the word.
It can be so easy to forget to sit down, open the Bible, and just read. Let's face it, we're all busy doing work, family things, yoga and meditation, and more each day. The thing is, sitting down and reading the Bible does something awesome to us each time we do it. It feeds our spirit man, living deep within. When I'm feeling down, I can read and/or meditate on scripture, and I'll feel better when I'm done. Why? I fed my spirit. Yes, my soul (mind/will/emotions) benefit as well, but my spirit, the truest version of myself here on earth, just received nourishment too. It was fed on the truth. I was reminded who I was and where I came from. That has a way of putting things in perspective. Feeling down? Feed your spirit man. Need some inspiration? Feed your spirit man. Looking for comfort? You know what's coming... feed your spirit man. At Rhema, when we practice Christian Yoga, we infuse our practice with the scripture. There are so many ways to meditate on the word, and they all bring fruit! This Week in the Rhema "Christian Yoga" Weekly...So often, we ask God to give us breakthrough and success in the things we care about the most. The problem is, those are the exact things that we have a hard time letting go of.
It leaves both God and us in a hard place... On one hand, we have a loving Father who wants to bless us and knows the best way for us to get our breakthrough. On the other hand, there we are, certain that we know what breakthrough looks like, and wanting that to happen right away. Sometimes, breakthrough in that area of our life, in the way that we want it, becomes more important than our relationship with God, although we don't realize it and would never admit it. Christian Yoga is something that Rhema uses to keep our priorities in check, and our heart in a place of surrender. Through the slow, meditative steps, we reposition our hearts. Through the peaceful encounters with God, we rediscover the trust and the relationship that means everything. Surrender means following the Lord, no matter what. It's not for the faint of heart; but it is, in the long run, the "easy" way out. |
