Christian Yoga: Rhema Yoga is Christian Yoga

FAQs

How is Rhema Yoga Different?

1. Christ at the Center, Not as an Add-On
Many Christian yoga practices incorporate Jesus alongside other philosophies or simply substitute Christian music and scripture into traditional yoga flows. Rhema Yoga, on the other hand, is birthed from a deep
Christocentric theology—Jesus isn’t added to yoga, He is the Source, the breath, the posture, and the purpose. Every movement is a conversation with the Holy Spirit, and every stillness is union with the Father.

2. The Rhema Revelation: Living Word, Living Body
Rhema Yoga draws its name from the Greek word rhema, meaning “spoken word” or “living voice.” Unlike static or ceremonial spiritual practices, Rhema Yoga emphasizes direct revelation from God—hearing the Voice within, not just reading the Word but embodying it. Movements are guided by the spontaneous and prophetic Word of God, making each practice potentially unique, alive, and revelatory.

3. New Covenant Identity
Rhema Yoga operates from the core belief that we are already seated with Christ in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6). It emphasizes identity in the New Covenant: forgiven, whole, empowered, and in union with God. This contrasts with spiritual models that focus on striving, performance, or unworthiness. Rhema Yoga doesn’t invite you to become holy through yoga—it flows from the truth that you already are holy in Christ.

4. Heart-Centered Transformation
Where many practices target physical alignment, Rhema Yoga targets spiritual alignment: the heart aligned with God’s heart. It’s not about mastering forms but about surrendering form—yielding every part of your being into Christ’s presence. The focus is not on the "pose" but on the posture of the soul: open, healed, and listening.

5. Mystical, Prophetic, Eschatological
Unlike yoga styles that emphasize present-moment mindfulness alone, Rhema Yoga is deeply prophetic and eschatological—teaching that we are in the last days, called to embody heaven now, and preparing the Bride of Christ for union. It operates with the spiritual gifts, emphasizing visions, healing, words of knowledge, and divine encounters as part of everyday practice.

6. Energy Healing Through the Father's Light
Rhema Yoga integrates a unique healing ministry known as Zoe Healing, where the energetic life force isn’t abstract or impersonal—it is the Holy Spirit, the breath of God animating all life. Healing sessions involve channeling divine energy not through chakras but through heavenly authority, with Christ as the Great Healer and the Father’s love as the source.

7. Liberation and Empowerment, Not Self-Improvement
Rhema Yoga rejects the self-help paradigm and instead focuses on Holy Spirit-led wholeness. You’re not working to improve yourself—you’re yielding to be transformed by Love. It’s less about doing better and more about becoming who you already are in Christ.

How are Rhema Yoga Postures Different?

To Say it Quickly:
  • We focus less on the "cool-looking," challenging postures that most people cannot do easily.
    • We focus our time on postures that connect people with the Lord instead of challenging poses that can potentially cause distraction and/or injury.
    • We've worked with a physical therapist when developing our poses to ensure the postures are safe, good for the body, and also an enhancement of your time of worship with God.
  • We create sequences that will make you sweat, but that is not our main focus.
    • Our primary focus is always on connection with God through a time of deep worship, with a secondary focus on caring for your body through a yoga workout.
  • Rhema Yoga includes more than postures, it is a complete Christian Yoga belief system
    • When many people in the U.S. think of "yoga," they think of yoga poses that you do on a mat for health.  However, yoga is actually much more than this.  It includes systems of practice to work on your body, heart, mind and spirit.
    • As such, Rhema Yoga offers certifications in teachings for the body, but also for the soul and spirit.

What is Rhema Yoga?

As a person learns to how to spend more time with God through a regular Rhema Yoga practice, they begin to learn more about who He is.  From that, they discover more about who they are, and what that means for their lives.

At Rhema, we used yoga as a tool to connect with God directly.  Yoga helps us learn how to connect to God as a son or daughter of the King.  It helps us slot out time in our busy calendar to care for our body, mind, heart and spirit.  It helps us create time in our busy schedule to have a devotional time with God that is focused on worshiping Him.

Rhema Yoga's 3 Objectives:

The Rhema Yoga lifestyle is mainly focused on three major objectives.
  • The mastery of the soul and emotions
  • The healing of the triune being
  • Linkage to the Godhead as a son or daughter
