This Week in the Rhema "Christian Yoga" Weekly...So many times we think we need to work hard for our faith. Maybe we need to study more scripture, or meditate more hours a day, or work for days on end on a hard yoga posture...
This sort of mindset, when applied to anything, usually means exhaustion, frustration, self-judgment and more. The ultimate irony is that often, only by letting go and surrendering things to God do we have any chance to get the things we want so badly. Faith is no different. Faith comes into our life through surrendering to the one and only God of the Universe. At Rhema Yoga, we use Christian Yoga to become aware of all of the different ways our human nature tends to want to strive towards good things. After that, we learn how to let go of these things and surrender to the God of Heaven.

This Week in the Rhema "Christian Yoga" Weekly..."Follow your heart!"
For so long, this advice has been on the lips of movie stars, parents, gurus and friends. But Jesus and other major leaders in the Bible had different advice. Ideas about the heart and God appear all throughout the scripture, and one thing seems to be consistent: our heart needs to be protected, purified, and given to God. The book of Jeremiah says "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?" (Jeremiah 17:9, ESV). In Psalms, we read that we are not to "trust in oppression, And do not vainly hope in robbery; If riches increase, do not set your heart upon them." )Psalm 62:10) Note that Jesus did not say to his disciples, “Let not your hearts be troubled, just believe in your hearts.” He said, “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me” (John 14:1). Here at Rhema, we believe that the best advice is to follow Jesus, not our hearts. When we do that, the passions and emotions of our hearts are poured out to Him, and purified in the process. We use Christian Yoga to discover how to do that in our live, and to practice applying that in our lives. So think twice before you decided to let your heart or your feelings guide you. It sounds so simple and freeing, but it’s not always the best plan. It’s important to listen to your feelings, but they don’t get to dictate your decisions. Let the Lord and His values dictate your decisions. Your Christian Yoga "Daily" PostThese days, it's easy to feel alone. So often when that is the case, we feel the urge to compromise our values, and perhaps even ignore our thoughts. But this short-term compromise comes at a great price. When you are not yourself, authentically, you are living out your life as someone else, inauthentically. You are being what someone else, or a group of someone others want you to be. Does this bring acceptance? Perhaps. Does it provide long-lasting joy and happiness? No.
At Rhema, we use Christian Yoga to connect to God and walk with him in relationship. Through that spiritual, divine relationship we learn how to be our best "selves." Kill groupthink. Stand for what you believe in, even if you stand alone. Today in the Rhema "Christian Yoga" Daily...Today we're going to talk about humility. So often, I used to think humility meant "putting myself down" or putting myself last. This is the farthest from the truth.
Real humility means knowing how strong, powerful and perfectly made you are by God, and then focusing on other things and how you can serve them, help them and more. Real humility means thinking of yourself less often, not less of yourself! Because there's huge things going on in the world right now - you won't make your mark and reach your destiny thinking you're "nothing" or worthless. At Rhema Yoga, we use Christian Yoga as a tool to help us connect to the Father, understand His heart for us, and from there, understand ourselves. Then ,we are able to understand who we are, and how we are made. Once we know our identity, we are able to truly spread light! This Week in the Rhema "Christian Yoga" Weekly...In the world today, life can seem totally overwhelming for so many different reasons.
Whether it's an errand here, a beeping timer there, a ringing cell phone or two somewhere else, most people find themselves being pulled in several different directions. Although things may feel crazy or scary or hopeless, you don't have to give into what you feel. You can live from your beliefs and your values instead. At Rhema, we use Christian Yoga to remind students of what they know to be true. What they believe, who they are, and whose they are. From there, they live from that place. This Week in the Rhema "Christian Yoga" Weekly...We can be strong and courageous because of the God inside of us who is strong and courageous.
When we become Christians, we invite the Holy Spirit into our hearts. At this point, our body becomes a temple, and within that temple is the dwelling place of God. When we walk a path to that temple, we meet with God and feel his presence. We don’t have to fear knowing that He is on our side. At Rhema, we use Christian Yoga to make a path to that temple within us. That meeting place between us and the Lord. The more we go within to meet with God, the more worn that path becomes. This Week in the Rhema "Christian Yoga" Weekly...God requires righteousness, but He also provided a way for us to be righteous through His Son Jesus Christ.
In everything we do, it's important to remember that we serve a loving God who is always looking out for our best. He is 100% holy and righteous, but he also is loving, and provides a way for his children to be with him. Here at Rhema, we use different forms of Christian Yoga to help people understand the love of God, and how easy it is to be with him in community. Not because of anything we really do or do not do, but because of what was already done for us. Today in the Rhema "Christian Yoga" Daily...The devil loves nothing more than the opportunity to bring up our past mistakes and sins and try to tell us who we are because of them. The enemy loves to use shame and guilt to tell us what we should think about our identity, our ability, our holiness, our significance and our value.
The problem with his argument is that he's wrong! We are saved and justified by what God thinks of us. By what Jesus did for us. We are covered by the blood of the lamb and made pure in the eyes of God. It's true that if we didn't have the price paid at the cross, we would never make it into Heaven because of the high standards that God holds in purity, holiness and more. But what God's righteousness demanded, His grace provided. At Rhema, we use Christian Yoga to understand this vital truth. He paid it all so that we could be with Him for all time and eternity. Not because of anything we did, but because of His love for us. Don't let the enemy use your past to attack you with guilt and shame. Guilt and shame are not part of the Kingdom. Learn to get past your past. As soon as tomorrow you can begin a new day and work towards a brighter future. Nothing worthwhile is always easy, but it is always worth doing! Today in the Rhema "Christian Yoga" Daily...Happiness is an emotion that we often feel when the sun is out, or we are with close friends, or with our spouse on a great date. Happiness, a wonderful feeling, comes and goes.
Joy is much deeper. Joy is a deep, satisfied, hopeful expectation of good things to come. It is also a deep sense of pleasure that comes from our relationship with God, with Holy Spirit dwelling within us. You can't fake joy, although you can and sometimes should even fake happiness. Joy comes from within - it comes from Holy Spirit within you, from your expected future in eternity with God, and more. When times are tough, you can still joy. When everything seems to be wrong, your joy can actually grow. At Rhema Yoga, we use the 4 legs to cultivate our body, soul and spirit in a way that connects us to Jesus as His sons and daughters. Through this connection, we find more and more joy. Through that joy, we walk with more and more victory here on earth. Today in the Rhema "Christian Yoga" Daily...When we undertake challenging tasks, whether related to our own growth and inner healing or our job, we can sometimes be overwhelmed with everything that comes up against us.
At times, so many opportunities may vanish that we may think God is against us, or ignoring us. Challenges and missed opportunities can be very frustrating, but we need to remember that our God is with us. Even if your business fails, God will walk with you and make the experience one of the richest and most valuable in your life. Even if you make the same mistake or fall into the same sin over and over again, God will take your hand and walk with you again toward strength and healing. If you're following Jesus and it feels like you're losing, then you're just not at the end. At Rhema, we work with our students within our system of Christian Yoga to develop a sense of connection with God. With this, we learn how to partner with Him and walk with Him through the good times and bad. Through the fires of life and the fun. |
